The Dream Times

Lisboa 27. September

Wednesday 22. September we woke up to a lovely morning. There was no doubt it was a good day to leave Lisboa and go further down the coast. Mikkel, René, NP and Dennis went down town to take in supplies and spend the last escudos. We said goodbye to Sirius, the Danish yacht, and sailed to Doca de Alcántara to get water and a last bath. When you go as south as Lisboa it is very rare to find warm water in the tap and a "bath" is a hose on the landing stage. Quite refreshing.

Loaded with water and provisions Dream shaped the course out of Rio Tejo. Everybody was in high spirits and now we were going to enjoy a layercake and later some steaks, but when we left the river we were met with a heavy sea. Probably caused by the resent fresh gale. At this time there was only a gentle breeze. The boat was thrown around in the waves and the cake and the steaks were soon to be found on the floor. A spoilt sumptuous meal. At this time we were so far out that it was possible to set sail so we drew a jib but Dennis had to climb the mast to get it up and a little later we sat the topgallant sail but we could not speed her up and decided to return to Lisboa.

We received a bad weather forecast and had to spend another week in the capital.

Saturday evening the crew from Sirius paid us a visit and we had a nice evening.

To day the weather forecast says, westerly wind and we plan to leave at 11 am. If everything goes well we’ll be at Cadiz about Thursday or Friday.

Sports:

Every morning we have compulsary morning-running and arm stretching. No tournament yet.

The (internal) word of the week:

We just have to go to Vejle to get some peas first, then we’ll move
